On Tuesday, 3 May 2022 , I spotted a pair of Common Mergansers paddling along in river near the island between the University Bridge and the Weir.
None of the photos I took that day were even close to being in focus...
I spotted them again a few days later, but this time they were chilling on the island having a snooze with their heads kind of tucked away...
Occasionally one would lift it's head, so I could clearly see (through the binoculars) that it was indeed them... but never both at the same time...

Spotted two MORE birbs yesterday afternoon... So I still have seven to do to get caught up!?
